🔺Hello!!! Today I'm going to post two subcultures that caught my attention. 🔺

The Tausug subculture

The Tausug are an ethnic group of the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. They practice the Islam religion. Some characteristics of this group are:
  • The Tausogs still practice age-old marriage customs👫
  • Loyalty is an important trait among the Tausugs. They practice the ritual of blood compact to signify the depth of their loyalty to one another.💪
  • They are fierce and dangerous but the moment one befriends one of them, the bond will be enduring.👊

The Maranao subculture

The Maranao people, also spelled Meranao, Maranaw, and Mëranaw, is the term used by the Philippine government to refer to the southern tribe who are the "people of the lake", a predominantly-Muslim Lanao province region of the Philippine island of Mindanao. They are known for:
  • Artwork🎨
  • Weaving👚
  • plastic and metal crafts and epic literature, the Darangen💃🎭
The Maranaos are quite superstitious, they believe in the hidden powers of the ANTING-ANTING amulet.

These Items which they wear on their necks, arms or legs believed to bring them good luck.

Well, they were my two favorite subcultures.

The Hofstede Model of Philippines    The Hofstede Model is a measure that score a culture based on six criteria that are: Power Distance, Individualism, Masculinity, Uncertainty Avoidance, Long Term Orientation and Indulgence. The graphic that you see at the beggining is a comparison of the score that I imagine have this culture and the other are the score based on a page of Hofstede Insights. Let's start with the first criteria, the scores are very different because I thought that the Phillipine people don't accept inequality but it seems that is the contrary. Another difference is based on the second criteria, in my opinion this culture is very individualistic but in reality is the oppositive. The rest of the criterias are very similar. What we can conclude from this comparison is that until we know the culture by other means than the internet, we shouldn't generalize our concept of that culture.
